Critical Mass 2020 Award Recipients
As we are beginning to prep for Critical Mass 2021 we wanted to make sure the list of awardees form 2020 remained on our website for future reference! Congrats to all of the photographers listed below:
Michael Reichmann Project Development Grant:
Awarded to Alanna Airitam, Marisol Mendez, Emeke Obanor, Andre Ramos-Woodard and Ada Trillo. Each photographer was awarded $1000 cash to go towards the development of a current or future project. Please see Photolucida’s blog for more information and links to their projects.
Fraction Feature Award:
Ten Finalists were selected to be featured on Fraction Magazine in a dedicated Critical Mass Issue (Issue 141). Congratulations to Kathleen Clark, Jasmine Clark, Yolanda del Amo, Photographer Hal, Letitia Huckaby, Jordanna Kalman, Forest Kelly, Ada Luisa Trillo, Aaron Turner, and Alex Turner.
Rauschenberg Residency Award:
Ebenezer Galluzzo was selected for a four-week residency at the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation’s Captiva Island estate in Florida (slated for 2022). Congratulations!
Blue Sky Gallery Solo Show Award:
Gary Burnley was chosen for a solo exhibition at Blue Sky Gallery (slated for 2021). Congratulations!
Print Collecting Initiative Award:
Each Finalist received their choice of one limited edition signed print by past Critical Mass award winners, Priya Kambli or Matt Eich. This award is generously sponsored by Hahnemühle + Pro Photo Supply.
Gifted Book Award:
25 Critical Mass Finalists have received a copy of Odette England’s important new monograph, ‘Keeper of the Hearth’ (Schilt Publishing, 2020)* please see this blog post for a list of these 25 people!
MFA Student Scholarships:
In 2020, we awarded scholarships for entry to Critical Mass to Granville Carroll (Rochester Institute of Technology), Kevin Claiborne (Columbia University), Karen Dias (The New School – Parsons), Erick Jonathan Guzman (Rhode Island School of Design), Dylan Hausthor (Yale School of Art), Mathew Jessie (Arizona State University), Dawn Kim (Yale School of Art), Cassandra Klos (Duke University), Epiphany Knedle (East Carolina University), Lindley Warren Mickunas (Columbia College Chicago), Alex Turner (University of Arizona), and Will Warasilla (Duke University). All twelve students received guidance from Photolucida, all Critical Mass fees waived, and entry to the Top 200 Finalist round. Thanks, everyone, for the nominations!
